The apps and sites I use to receive news and content on a daily basis

I’m a junkie for the news, but not in the sense of the actual news because its fairly depressing for someone like me that wants to stay positive. No, the kind of news I enjoy is industry (mobile, games, marketing) or technology-related.

I had a conversation with a CNN executive recently about the ways that people like to receive news on their mobile devices. It seems CNN is evaluating this and trying to determine the best way to deliver mobile content. Personally, I feel that there are enough apps & tools out there that give people their pick of how they want to receive the news and if I were CNN, I’d focus more on creating a content distribution engine that allowed for content to be served up in almost any form, at any time and any place. Then I would partner with the apps & tools to ensure my content was being integrated into their products. The problem there, of course, is CNN wouldn’t be able to generate ad-revenue as easily. So what do I know :)

Here are the apps and mobile-websites I use to receive news and content on a daily basis:

MobileContent

Couple of notes:

Actual Movie Trailers. I’m a big movie trailer junkie. Don’t ever take me to a movie and utter the words, “its ok if we miss the previews.”

Circa. Curated and mobile-edited news. I love the way these guys are changing the way news is delivered.

Medium (mobile-web). I’m not sure how long this will last, but so far Medium seems to produce a higher level of good content than almost any site.

Drippler. Articles that specifically have to do with my phone (Droid Turbo).

Any apps or sites that I’m missing that you think should be in the rotation?

Thanks for sharing. Feedly and Pocket are awesome! I love movie trailers as well and the last 30 days has been the best movie trailer season :-)

I feel like Zite is a better service. It replaced almost all of these apps and produces better results.
